Monday arrived: the fourth and final day of this season’s London Collections: Men… and it showed: eye bags under the eyes, lost track of time and limited strength to run around to catch all shows. The brutal exhaustion witnessed, however, was quickly forgotten (at least for another couples of hours that is) thanks to what came next.

GQ China definitely know how to excite the tired eyes of the journalists and this season they did exactly that with Sankuanz. Striking make up (who wouldn’t want to see a bruised up model early morning?) and arresting illustrations (especially up-close) had everyone wide awake in seconds. Little did I know it would become even more interesting in just a few minutes when a very late guest stormed through the catwalk to take his seat: in the middle of the show. Ah, the outrage that followed… pure entertainment.

Сива меланхолия обля The Оld Sorting Office.

I then went on a journey back to the late 60s in the English town of Hull, or at least that was the inspiration and atmosphere E. Tautz wanted us to experience.

Instead of the usual press release I was handed a newspaper-like print-out with pictures of what Douglas Dunn had portrayed in his award winning poem ‘Terry Street’. Grey melancholia swept up the Old Sorting Office.

Katie Eary.

Desperate for some colour and joy, Katie Eary came next just like ordered.

The designer is well know for her eccentric vision and style, and her new collection stayed true to that. Scalp-fitting hats in the shape of a brain and illustrations outlining anatomical parts of the models’ bodies injected much needed sense of humour. This show reminded me that fashion is not always serious and that it is important to have fun with it, let it roam free with your imagination.

The Wild West and its cool cowboys followed at Xander Zhou.

Fringing, distressed denim and intricate embellishments were presented in a fresh and unexpected way… and all the pretty boys didn’t hurt the eyes either.

Till next time!

That was it from me folks. It’s time to pull the plug and recharge.

Till next time!
